Heather Carey, RVT
Heather has always been interested in veterinary medicine. Prior to becoming a registered veterinary technician she worked as a receptionist at a veterinary hospital in the Bay Area. When Heather and her family moved to the Sacramento area several years ago, she took a position as a receptionist at a local veterinary emergency hospital. From her position as a receptionist she underwent training to become a veterinary assistant and from there to working as veterinary technician. During this time Heather decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She enrolled in the Western Career College veterinary technician program from which she obtained her registered veterinary technician (RVT) license. After graduation, Heather worked at the Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital in Sacramento.
While Heather was in technician school she was introduced to canine rehabilitation and physical therapy and immediately fell in love with it. Heather is currently training to obtain certification in canine rehabilitation with Jane Forsyth the physical therapy director of IVC and Dr. Signe Beebe. Heather believes that canine rehab and physical therapy are essential to restore normal function after illness or injury, and for dogs that need conditioning due to advanced age.
Heather lives with her husband Jim, her two wonderful children Brenden and Ashlyn, 2 dogs, 3 cats and various chickens.
