Jane E. Forsyth, BS, MS.
Originally from England, Jane was raised in Hong Kong and university educated in California (undergraduate) and Scotland (postgraduate). Now a permanent resident of California, Jane has coordinated the Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Program at the Integrative Veterinary Center, since 2005.
Jane attended the University of California, Davis, from 1994 to 1998, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in exercise physiology. In February, 2002, she obtained a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Science (with license to practice physical therapy) from Glasgow Caledonian University in the U.K. Jane is also licensed as a physical therapist in California, and enjoys working with both people and animals.
Jane worked as a physical therapist at a large, acute care teaching hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. During this time, she gained valuable experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and developed a special interest in orthopedic rehabilitation, as well as in veterinary physical therapy. Jane is now lucky to be able to split her time between human and animal practice. She currently works as a physical therapist and the Director of Rehab for a small hospital in Sacramento, when she is not at IVC.
Jane is responsible for developing the rehab plan for each patient. She is assisted by Heather Carey (RVT) to implement the plan, and also works closely with the veterinarians of IVC and referring veterinarians/surgeon, as needed. She is a devoted dog and cat owner who firmly believes in compassion and respect for all living creatures. She is enthusiastic about her position and thoroughly enjoys applying her professional knowledge, experience and practical skills to benefit pets with their rehabilitation.
