Saying goodbye to your pet is one of the most difficult decisions you may ever make in your life.  Integrative Veterinary Center offers in clinic euthanasia when you and your pet are ready for that hard decision. We are committed to making the process as easy as it can be. Our Doctors and Staff  are compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental; we are committed to helping you make the decision that is best for your pet’s quality of life and for you and your family.

What to expect

The first few moments of the appointment will be spent organizing the required paperwork and authorization. Feel free to ask as many questions as needed. Everything will be done at the pace you and your pet request, you may take all the time you need. The actual procedure is quite simple and peaceful. If you choose to be present, an intravenous (IV) catheter may be placed in a front or rear leg to administer the drug. Once you and your pet are ready the doctor will administer the drug intravenously.  It works very rapidly, usually no longer than a few seconds. One of our Doctors will then confirm that your pet has passed on.  After the euthanasia you are welcome to continue to spend as much time as you need with your pet.

After Care

Home Burial: You may take your pet’s remains with you for a home burial at no extra charge.

Cremation and Cemetery Burial Options

For cremations and burial services we work along with Sacramento Pet Cemetery. They are located at 9558 Gerber Road Sacramento, CA 95829 more information can be found at their website

Private Cremation: Each pet is cremated one at a time. The ashes are placed inside a wooden picture urn and returned to the owner within 7-10 days either by Integrative Veterinary Center or the urn can be shipped directly to your house.

Communal Cremation: Several pets are cremated together, and the resulting remains are then scattered on the cemetery grounds.

Witness Cremation: Pet owners witness their pet being placed into and out of the crematory. Owner may choose to place the pet in themselves if needed for closure. Ashes are packaged according to client’s wishes and returned the same day. Pet owners are present for the entire process from beginning to packaging the remains (by appointment only).

Burial Services

  • Country Garden: Low cost burial in which no casket or marker is required.
  • Pond & Fountain:  Individually marked gravesite surrounded with trees and flowers.
  • Columbarium: Pet’s remains are placed in an urn and placed inside an individual granite compartment. Bronze metal plaque with pet’s information is mounted on the front niche.

At Home Euthanasia

Unfortunately, at this time Integrative Veterinary Center’s Doctors are not able to perform the euthanasia of your pet at your home. We have a wonderful relationship with mobile veterinarians who do offer at home euthanasias. Many times it is best not to stress your pet more by bringing them away from their home in their last moments, having the euthanasia done in the comfort of your home with family, friends, and other pets can make this difficult time more peaceful. Below are recommended mobile veterinarians.
